Tata Motors may finally break even in passenger vehicles first time in a decade - Feedback

Tata MotorsNSE 1.06 % is expecting an operational breakeven for the first time in a decade in its local passenger vehicle operations this fiscal year, after having outpaced the market on sales growth for 30 months in a row and supported by cost-cutting programmes.

Automaker is eyeing yet another year of more than 20% sales growth in the fiscal year through March 2019, which will help it cross the 2.5 lakh unit output required to break even, said people in the know. Breakeven in the passenger vehicle division will be a significant milestone for the company considering it has for years been depending on the commercial vehicle arm or dividend from the Jaguar Land Rover unit to keep afloat.
