SPML Infra Ltd, in joint venture with Tata Projects Ltd, has bagged three major orders worth ₹1,275 crore from the Rajasthan government for design and construction of sewerage system, with provision of treated wastewater re-use, from Rajasthan Urban Drinking Water Sewerage & Infrastructure Corporation Ltd (RUDSICO) for 11 cities.
The projects are envisaged as decentralised sewage treatment projects similar to the ones being proposed under the Namami Gange programme, said an official release. The treated wastewater can provide an alternative source of water, reduce pollution to groundwater sources, thus improving health and economic productivity, it added. The first order of ₹480 crore is for developing sewer systems in Bharatpur, Gangapur, Hinduan and Churu cities. The second order of ₹417 crore is for sewer systems in Udaipur, Nagaur, Sujangarh and Baran, while the third order of ₹378 crore is for development of sewer systems in Chittorgarh, Beawar and Bundi cities.
