State Public Works Department (PWD) is involved in rehabilitation and upgrading of highways, major bridges (MJBs), minor bridges (MNBs) and culverts in Raipur district of Chhattisgarh. Development includes upgradation of 18 road projects, bridges and culverts. The project worth Rs 2,210.64 crore is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Loan.
During a recent visit, the Projects Today Field Research Team learnt that PWD is developing total 855.608 km of highways and seven MJBs, 76 MNBs and 1,727 culverts. With co-operation of the government and PWD, work on six MJBs, 61 MNBs and 1,635 culverts is completed. Around 68.13 percent of financial outlay is incurred on the project as on 31 March 2018.
