NE Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 proposes Rs 1,30,000 crore investments - Feedback

Union petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday released the North East Hydrocarbon Vision 2030, which proposes investments of Rs 1,30,000 crore in 15 years to ramp up hydrocarbon production in Northeast India.

According to the document Pradhan released in Guwahati, ahead of assembly elections in Assam later this year, Rs 80,000 crore will be required for upstream activities, Rs 20,000 crore for midstream and Rs 30, 000 crore for downstream. The downstream investments will lead to more than doubling the capacity of refineries in the region to 16 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) from 7 mtpa now. The vision also seeks to increase cooperation between Northeast India and SAARC countries.
