The country’s largest e-tailer Flipkart has inked an exclusive partnership with one of the biggest jewellery brands, Kalyan Jewellers to sell its select products online. “We will dedicate a certain segment of our gold and diamond products, ranging from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 3 lakh, exclusively for Flipkart. These have been exclusively designed for Flipkart,” said Ramesh Kalyanaraman, Executive Director, Kalyan Jewellers.
Flipkart, which launched sale of jewellery on its marketplace in September 2013, has seen fast growth in the segment. The company has entered into partnerships with other big brands like TBZ, Malabar Gold and PC Jewellers. The online retailer offers two lines of jewellery —artificial and precious jewellery. “In the next one year, we expect this category to grow at more than double the rate of the fashion and lifestyle category,” said Rishi Vasudev, Vice President, Fashion at Flipkart.
