Emami Agrotech Limited, part of the Emami group, is investing Rs 300 crore to expand the refining capacity of its edible oil facility in Haldia.
The company at present has capacity of around 4,000 tonnes per day (tpd) of edible oil manufacturing between the two plants in Haldia and Krishnapatnam. The Krishnapatnam unit has a production capacity of 1,000 tpd, while the Haldia unit currently can manufacture around 3000 tpd. With the proposed expansion in the Haldia unit, the capacity of the plant will increase by another 1000 tpd thereby taking up its total capacity to 4000 tpd. “This will make our Haldia facility the largest single location edible oil refinery in India,” said Emami group director Aditya Agarwal. Agarwal said the expansion of Haldia unit will be completed by the end of this year.
