BHEL bags NTPC’s Bangladesh project – Feedback

Indian public sector company, BHEL has bagged the engineering procurement and construction contract for 1,320 megawatt Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company (BIFPC).

BIFPC is a 50:50 joint venture floated by Bangladesh Power development Board and NTPC of India. The company signed a contract agreement for main plant EPC on a turnkey package with BHEL India to construct 2×660 MW Maitree Super Thermal Power Project at Rampal Upazila under Bagerhat district of Bangladesh on 12th July, 2016 at Bangladesh. BIFPCL selected BHEL through an international open bidding process. Construction of this project will contribute immensely to the overall development of Bangladesh especially its power sector. The contract value of the project is $ 1.49 billion which will be financed by Indian Exim Bank. The plant is expected to start generation during 2019-20.
