Azure Power setting up solar plants with 150 MW capacity in Punjab – Feedback

Solar power firm Azure Power is investing nearly Rs 800 crore to set up solar power projects with capacity of 150 MW in Punjab’s Fazilka and Bathinda districts.

The plants are part of 500 MW capacity lined up for commissioning in Punjab in the current financial year by Hindustan Clean Energy (50MW), Mytrah (50 MW), Photon (150MW) and Prayanta (100 MW). Azure Power is setting up plants in villages of Badal, Bahadurgarh Jadian in Bathinda and Korianwali and Bahadurkhera in Fazilka. State Renewable Energy Minister Bikram Singh Majithia said Punjab is setting new milestones in the field of solar energy and by 2017, there would be 2000 villages receiving power only through solar plants. According to him, Punjab has the highest number of rooftop solar plants in the country. The state has witnessed an investment of more than Rs 12,000 crore in solar sector, he added.
