Vijayawada will soon get a Rs. 50-crore facility to give a fillip to the plastics industry. It will be developed by the Central Institute of Plastics Engineering & Technology (CIPET).
The Centre and the State governments will share the costs equally. The AP government has allotted 12.04 acres at Surampalli village of Gannavaram mandal for the facility. It is expected to help plastics industry in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Rajahmundry, Guntur and Renigunta in the State. The Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers Ananth Kumar and Chief Minister, N Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone on Friday. Union Ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, P Ashok Gajapati Raju, Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and others will be present at the event.
