Govt targets $1.5 trillion matching infra deficit – Feedback

In order to match the burgeoning infrastructure deficit across the country, the government has targeted an estimated investment worth $1.5 trillion in the next decade.

On this score, it has also planned to connect 700 thousand villages with roads by 2019 as part of a massive modernization initiative, Finance Minister stated recently while addressing a seminar on “Infrastructure and Global Economic Growth” organized by China sponsored Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) along with Finance Ministers of many countries in China. He further informed that the government has been able to sustain growth in the phase of global slowdown essentially on the strength of the infrastructure creation in India where the gap is huge and in the next decade, the government needs the targeted funds to achieve its laid down infra building targets.
