The state government has set aside a staggering investment target worth Rs. 3,900-cr to build Raipur, the capital city of Chhattisgarh, under a central government scheme, as the city has recently been selected under the Smart Cities Mission and that the old city of Raipur would also be covered in the mission.
Chhattisgarh is also developing Naya Raipur, a new capital about 17 km from the existing one. The Raipur Municipal Corporation would be the nodal agency to implement the smart city project and out of the total investment, Rs. 1,000-cr would be shared by the Centre and the state government, Mayor Pramod Dubey, said. Adding further that the fund would be released through an installment of Rs. 200-cr every year and the remaining amount would be generated via public private partnership, he claimed.
