Budget hotel aggregator Deyor Rooms is entering the camping business in a bid to diversify and broaden its revenue base. The Gurgaon-based startup organised a countrywide pilot with 15 campsites in December and January, generating close to 4,000 camp nights.
Deyor Camps, as the new business is called, plans to invest Rs 6 crore to grow its business in 2016, with plans to open 200 campsites that will charge Rs 1,000-4,000 per person per night. “From day one our focus has been value and not just volume. While the budget hotel segment is growing, we found camps segment was untapped. It is an acceptable alternative for holiday and corporate offsites with huge margins,” said Dheeraj Jain, co-founder of Deyor Rooms and partner at London-based hedge fund Redcliffe Capital.
