Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, a Sri Lankan chain, is looking to enter India with plans to set up two hotels in the country by 2020, a top company executive said. The company, owned by Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate John Keells Holdings, is exploring acquisition and management contract opportunities in India.

“Till date, India is the top market in terms of tourist arrivals for Sri Lanka. Having a presence in India will help the Indian tourists understand our brand better and also help in driving larger numbers to Sri Lanka,” Rohan Karr, executive vice president of John Keells Holdings, told ET. “If people need to believe you, you need to set up a presence and invest in the market either as full or part-shareholders.”
