Demand for cement is likely to grow by 4-6 per cent in the next financial year, compared to 3 per cent growth estimated this fiscal, on account of government spending in the construction and infrastructure segment, says a report.

Cement demand grew by 5.6 per cent in the last fiscal, according to India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra). The estimate by the agency for the current fiscal has been revised down from the earlier projection of 6.5-8 per cent. “Demand for cement (is expected) to grow by 4-6 per cent in FY17, double the growth registered in 2015, on the back of government spending in the construction and infrastructure segment,” Ind-Ra said in its latest report.
